Carrier

👍🏻👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿 QCode has put the rubber to the road and taken sound quality to the next level. The comprehensive sound design made us jump in our car wondering “was that a truck horn or the podcast?” This fictional story follows Raylene as she hauls a mysterious truckload – which had us theorizing in every debrief. We made a lot of creative guesses but none as inventive as the cunning writers. The episodes build to an intense experience that had us on the edge of our seats. Most of the characters were well developed, however we felt the motivation for some of Raylen’s decisions could have been better set-up. The sleuths in the group would have appreciated a few more clues leading up to the ending, but overall this is a very entertaining show and worth a listen. @aqcodemedia @cynthiaerivo #podcast #apodcastclub

About the show | What happens when a truck driver picks up a loaded trailer, but has no idea what’s really inside? Raylene (Cynthia Erivo) journeys down a dark and lonely highway in this original scripted thriller. With immersive audio techniques that create a dimensional listening experience, the audience is strongly advised to use caution, wear headphones if possible, and listen… carefully.

Wolverine: The Lost Trail

👍🏻👍🏽👍🏾👎🏿 The majority of us being Marvel fans this was satisfying to get a slice of some X-Men pie while in between major motion pictures. Compared to Wolverine: The Long Night we had major problems with 1) the sound mixing not favoring the dialogue which made character conversations hard to decipher and 2) the script lacking action descriptions during fight scenes which made it hard to comprehend what was going on. The sound mixing issue was slightly remedied by listening to the podcast on headphones, opposed to car speakers, however this did not resolve the lack of description during action scenes. We’re not talking about a cheesy play-by-play (eh hem “Deadly Manners”) but an “Aww my leg!” would have helped out substantially. Usually, within the same episode the script would allude to what happened during the action sequence. But it’s a shame the description isn’t happening at the height of the sequence, because that’s when we were most engaged. Our visualization of the scene goes from a vivid depiction of Hugh Jackman (why picture another Wolverine) to a complete black-out because we couldn’t figure out what was going on! As fans of X-Men we would recommend this podcast as this season featured more mutants and had a redeemable ending…. Just listen on your headphones! #fictionpodcast @officialwolverine #WolverinePodcast @marvel

About: The follow up season to Marvel’s “Wolverine: The Lost Trail” is an epic quest that takes place in the Louisiana bayou. Following the events of the previous season, Logan returns to New Orleans in search of redemption, only to discover that his ex-lover, Maureen is nowhere to be found. And she’s not the only one. Dozens of humans and mutants have gone missing, including the mother of a teenage boy, Marcus Baptiste. With Weapon X in close pursuit, Logan and Marcus must team up and follow a trail of clues that leads them deep into the gothic heart of the bayou, where they encounter biker gangs, Cajun thieves and a world of wonders that defies explanation. It is here that they find Greenhaven — a refuge run by a powerful mutant named Jason Wyngarde.

The Deep Vault

👍🏻👍🏼👎🏽👎🏾 After much deliberation between the two Sci-Fi fans in this group vs the two non-Sci-Fi fans it was decided that, although the plot was creative, the script lacked imagination. We discussed how repetitive word (and curse word) choice in the script became tiresome and how there were missed opportunities for technical word-play to describe ideas such as the monstrous creatures or the vault itself! Not to mention the incongruous first, second and third act that had us asking “did three different people write this in a game of pass-the-story?”. For these reasons we are split 50-50 in recommending this podcast. The two Sci-Fi fans recommend it for its decent sound design and intriguing mystery. The two non-Sci-Fi fans will point out the huge plot inconsistencies and bad dialogue in the script.

Deadly Manners

👎🏻👎🏼👎🏽👎🏾  We were warned by the reviews and listened anyway. Overall consensus is that this podcast was extra cheesy and sadly a waist of a lot of talent. It was painful to listen to at times. We do not recommend this podcast, you’ve been warned. #podcast @deadlymanners

Wolverine: The Long Night

👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾This is like listening to a movie. It had great suspense, plot twists, and terrific acting. This was great for a group listen. It was really fun to discuss all the clues and try and guess what was going to happen next. #podcast @officialwolverine #WolverinePodcast
